January update

Works are progressing well on the Houston Mitchell Drive Stages 2 and 3 Upgrade. Recent works have seen the number of work zones under portable traffic signals reduced to two sections only, easing delays for motorists using this route.

Works are currently on track for completion in March 2017 weather dependant. To date over 2.3km of the works have been constructed full width to the designed levels with the remaining 1.9km of the Works currently under construction.

Traffic controls will continue to be in place to the completion of the works. Council appreciates the community’s co-operation and patience as these important road improvements take place.

The overall aim of these works is to:

• Improve safety and better flow of traffic for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.
• Provide a quality road pavement for the speed environment
• Improved road-side drainage that is more efficient.

Note: During construction contraflow and other traffic controls will be in place and delays are expected. Council appreciates the community’s co-operation and patience as these important road improvements take place.
